I'm Alexander Murmann — CTO and co-founder at Baseline Systems, where we're using AI agents to close the information gap in home repair and maintenance. Before Baseline, I spent over a decade as an engineering leader at VMware, Pivotal, Pivotal Labs, and NCC Group.

I write here about software engineering, AI-assisted development, management trade-offs, and occasionally books that changed how I think. Much of this blog's purpose is for me to organize my thoughts — and maybe someone else will benefit from me sharing them.

My past blogging attempts failed because I set the bar for what I deemed interesting too high and published nothing. If I publish stuff that’s trivial and boring I’ll have overcome that particular issue and succeeded.
